Breaking in the road
It started! Jake’s parents flew out and we all went down to the property to work! We officially started breaking in the road and clearing a path to the back of the property. Of course, it ended up being the hottest week in Ohio this year, but it was worth it. The boys got so much done!
After the boys came back to the campsite from working, Emma officially declared that there are two smells that she can’t stand… “garbage and sweaty man smell”, haha! (…She wasn’t wrong). But like I said, worth it!
While the boys worked, I stayed back with the kiddos to explore and play in the creek and woods. The kids had so much fun building steps down to the creek and trying to catch crawdads. They were making me laugh all day with their shenanigans.
After working for a handful of days, I was amazed how much the boys were able to accomplish. They worked so hard, but I think they had a blast using all the machinery and just hanging out together. You can slowly see the vision come together.
While we were all together we might have surprised Rachel and Jake with a little house warming gift…. but that will have to wait until the next post. Any guesses what we gave them? I’ll give you a hint… it was meant to clear land and was perfect for starting their homestead.
